Born on February 21, 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia, Barb's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and courage that she embodied every day.
Barb's journey began as the cherished daughter of her parents in the scenic town of Huntington, where she grew up with her sisters Judy Timmons and Robin Royer. She carried with her the spirit of her birthplace, a blend of warmth and resilience that would define her character. Throughout her life, Barb was a pillar of strength and a source of unconditional love for her daughters, Tammy Lynn Assaf, Tina (Robert) Louise Travis, and Jody Anne Mielke. Her role as a mother was one, she cherished above all else, guiding her children with a gentle hand and a firm resolve. She was predeceased by her loving husband Gery.
Barb's professional life was as rich and varied as her personal interests. She dedicated herself to her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother, creating a home filled with joy, laughter, and an abundance of care. A woman of many passions, Barb found solace and delight in the simple pleasures of life. Music was a constant companion, providing a soundtrack to the many moments she shared with her family. Her hands, always busy, found joy in the earth as she tended to her garden, bringing forth life and beauty with every season. Sewing and painting were not just hobbies, but expressions of her creativity and love for creating beauty in the world. Barb's love for cleaning and organizing was not just about maintaining order but reflected her philosophy that every aspect of life should be approached with care and attention. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she cherished the community and solace she found in attending church. The memories of time spent on her Aunt Ruth's farm, caring for the animals and embracing the simplicity of rural life, were among her fondest.
