Deborah M. Bond Obituary
Deborah M. (Shaffer) Bond, 70, of Kawkawlin, Michigan, passed away on May 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of boundless love, warmth, and devotion that touched every life she encountered.
Debbie was born on October 24, 1955, in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of the late Harold Shaffer and the late Charlotte Roth. She graduated from Arenac Eastern High School in 1973 and went on to build a distinguished career as a Loan Officer at United Bay Community Credit Union, where she served for many years and was beloved by colleagues and members alike. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh made every interaction a memorable one, and those who sat across her desk quickly discovered that her genuine care for people extended far beyond the professional.
In 1987, Debbie met Gary Bond at Beson's Meat Market, and their connection blossomed into a deep and lasting partnership. The two were united in marriage on October 20, 2000, and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to each other. Gary was by her side until the very end and their love for one another was so clearly apparent in her final days here on earth.
Debbie was a caretaker through and through. Throughout her life, she opened her heart and her home to many, always placing the needs of others before her own. She had a great sense of humor that could brighten even the most difficult days, and she never let a single day pass without reminding her loved ones just how much they meant to her. She loved to sing songs to her children and grandchildren, melodies that will live on in their hearts forever.
When she was not caring for those around her, Debbie could be found enjoying the outdoors she so dearly loved. She was an avid hunter and a devoted gardener, and she treasured quiet hours spent reading or working on puzzles with her great grandchildren. She had a deep love for dogs and was accompanied by many furry friends throughout her life, each one a cherished companion.
Above all, Debbie was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She loved Jesus with her whole heart, and her Christian walk guided every aspect of her life. Her faith gave her strength, and it is in that faith that her family finds comfort now, knowing she is finally at peace and holding her children, Carrie and Chad, in her arms once again.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Gary Bond of Kawkawlin; her son, Michael (Angela) Miller; her brothers, Dennis Shaffer Sr. and Harold Shaffer Jr.; her sisters, Delilah (Gary) Shaffer and Diana (Doug) Gay; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Felisha (Anthony) Stricker, Logan Miller, Elijah Miller and her great grandchildren, Gracelynn Stricker, Isaac Stricker, Juliet Stricker and another great granddaughter on the way. She was also a devoted aunt who adored and loved her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Carrie Miller, and her baby boy, Chad Miller.
She was the most loving woman to ever exist. Her family takes solace in knowing that the songs she sang, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so freely will echo through the generations she leaves behind. May she rest eternally in the arms of the Savior she loved so dearly. She is finally reunited with her two children in heaven.
