Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Susan Backlund of Kingsford, Michigan, born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, who passed away at the age of 68, on September 17, 2020. She was predeceased by : her parents, Robert Menghini and Shirley Menghini (Johnson); and her parents-in-law, Adolph "Pusty" and Rena Backlund. She is survived by : her husband Wayne Backlund; her son Robert Backlund; her daughter-in-law Meredith Niles of Lincoln, VT; her sisters, Joan Swartout (Larry) of Iron Mountain, MI and Kris Deckett of Tawas City, MI; her granddaughter Suvi Backlund-Niles; her brother-in-law Jim Backlund (Mary); and her nephews, Tom Swartout, Andrew Swartout, Alex Swartout, David Deckett, Zach Backlund and Max Backlund.
A public celebration of Susie's life will take place in the summer of 2021, assuming that it can be done safely in light of Covid-19.
