He was predeceased by: his parents, Truman Franks and Doris Franks (Baker); his sons, Gregory Franks and Rick McKenzie; and his siblings, Clayson, George, Jim, Thelma and Jenett.

He is survived by: his former wife Wilma Jean McKenzie; his wife Jean Franks; his children, Pamela Kelly of Florida, Ruth Stocking of Ravenna, MI, Cheryll Ann Feirick of Grand Rapids, MI and Murrell of Kinross, MI; and his sister Nancy Williams of Coopersville, MI.. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
