He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Strieter and Lucille Strieter (Kaupila); his son Richard, Jr.; and his siblings, Karen Statler and Jan Strieter, Sr..

He is survived by : his wife Gloria Balowaara of Lake Linden; his children, Daniel (Julie) of Superior Twp, MI, Juliana Strieter (Monica) of Arlington, VA and Neil (Ashlee) of Coburntown; his grandchildren, Maddison, Leah Beach, Emma, Isaiah, Nathan and Sophie Strieter; his siblings, Ted (Kay), Doug (Jane), Kim, Kathy Salmela (Alan), Kristine Michaelson and Susan Joy Strieter; and his sister-in-law Sue Strieter.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church for the roof support project.
