He was predeceased by: his parents, James, Sr. Lawless and Lillian Lawless; his former wife Linda Lawless; his sister Mary; his stepson Vincent Kastar; and his brother-in-law Jerry Fountaine.

He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Lawless of Lake Linden; his children, Gary, Angie and Amanda; his stepchildren, Kathy, Robin and Keith; his siblings, Cathie Greene, Steve Lawless and Jerry Lawless; his sister-in-law Pat Lawless; his niece Lilly; and his pet Lucy. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
