He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Vaive and Agnes Vaive. He is survived by: his wife Connie Vaive (Nee Rzepecki); his children, Lara Vaive (Vince Fike) and Courtney Vaive; and his grandchildren, Henry and Charlie Fike.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Richard's name may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project. Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
