He was predeceased by : his parents, Lyman Swanson and Nathalie Swanson (Hill). He is survived by : his wife Karen Sherman of L'Anse; his children, Colleen Harris (Greg) of Green Bay, WI and Scott Swanson (Kimberly) of L'Anse; his siblings, Larry Swanson (Elaine) of Wyoming, MI, Greta Pesognelli of Baraga, MI, Cynthia Hofbauer of San Diego, CA and Lyn Swanson of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and his grandchildren, Johanna Tomcheck (Mike), Eli Harris, Autumn Swanson, Madissen Swanson and Natalie Swanson.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a Veterans charity of choice.
