He was predeceased by: his father Francisco Puente; and his sister Michele Pennington. He is survived by: his mother Maria Puente (Ledesma); his wife Lynne Puente (Widman); his daughters, Alicia Puente (Jeffrey Kirkpatrick) and Jacqueline Puente (William Freeman); and his grandchildren, Makhi Curry, Carter Freeman and Amalia Freeman. He is also survived by 1 granddaughter on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
