He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Hiipakka and Lempi Hiipakka (Junnikkala); his children, Jerry Whitmer, Sherie Ann Whitmer-Hamlin, Robert 'Butch Whitmer, Steven and Donald Hiipakka; his sister Elaine; and his brother-in-law Art Somsel.
He is survived by: his wife Kay Gunnersen; his children, Margot Gillespie (Shawn), Charlie Jr. Hiipakka (Amber), Linda Bjorkquist and Bobette Oosterink (Gilbert); his daughter-in-law Linda Baker; his grandchildren, Stevie Johnson (Brent), Shannon Patrick (Logan), Savannah (Cory), Georgia, Ginger Hiipakka, Nathan (Leeann), Jeremy Whitmer, Chad Whitmer (Amanda), Castle Oosterink, Jennifer Colby, Kelly Wilson and Katie Gray; his great grandchildren, Jade Gillespie, Charlie, Frankie, Georgie Ann Patrick, Kaden Whitmer, Abbie, CJ, Breanna, Gracie Marie, Chad Jr., Gracie Lauren, Morgan Whitmer, Nicholas Keys, Jaxson and Jacob Gray; and his sisters-in-law, Margie Morang and BeeZee Guenthardt.
