He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Guthrie and Mildred Guthrie (Nolan); his siblings, Bonnie Thomas and Robert Guthrie; his grandson Brock Eckert; and his mother-in-law Kathryn Aldridge.

He is survived by : his wife Darla Guthrie; his children, Thomas Guthrie (Connie) of Monroe, Pamela Guthrie (Mike Rowell) of Monroe, Lori Stevens (Charles) of Monroe, Susan Guthrie (Charmagne Williams) of Ypsilanti, MI and Richard Guthrie (Michelle) of LaSalle; and his siblings, Richard Guthrie (Mary) of Monroe, Roseann Harwick of Toledo, OH and Kathy Stanifer (Randy) of Gladwin, MI. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

For their kindness, care and compassion, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to Hospice of Michigan in lieu of flowers.
