He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ellen Perry Rice and Frank Warren Rice; his brothers, Frank Warren (Betty), Marshall (Jan) and Philip (Charlene); his spouse Beverly May Wright Rice; and his grandchildren, Amy Rice-O'Rourke (David), Elizabeth (Janet Neubecker) and Charles David (Carole Woods).
His later years, he became the primary caregiver for Beverly who developed Alzheimer's.
