He was predeceased by : his parents, Orel Carson and Ethel Carson (Vincent); his wife Patricia L. Neisler; and his siblings, George Carson, Betty Ann Weir, Genevieve Carson and Howard Carson.

He is survived by : his son Donald Sutphin (Monica) of Danville, California; his sister Juanita Marshall of Lapeer; and his friend Matt Dougherty. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
