He was predeceased by: his parents, Wojciech Szumylo and Stasia Szumylo (Witkowska). He is survived by: his wife Lynne Alger Szumylo; his sisters, Helen Szumylo and Elizabeth Wester (Mark); his siblings-in-law, Lana Allen (Fred) and Dennis Alger; and his close friend Rose. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or to Saint Mary Catholic Church in Paw Paw.
