He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Woodrow Akers and Lillian Akers; and his grandchildren, Thomas "Pat" (Tina), Amanda, Olivia of Dayton, Ohio, Joseph (Marie), Megan Rebic (Miro), Shelby, Natalie, Aubree of Capac, Michigan, David (Noelle), Luke, Noah, Emma of Clarkston, Michigan, Adam Jillian (Georgianna), McKenna and Gwendolyn of Athens, Georgia.. He was also cherished by his soulmate as a young man when Nana "Fay" became friends.
