He was predeceased by: his parents, Billy Houghtby and Donna Houghtby (Fink); his sister Betty Jane Dunbar; and his close friend Marcia Button. He is survived by: his friend Ike; his sons, Philip Houghtby, Jr. (Penny) of Jonesville and Chad Houghtby (Michele) of Hillsdale; his grandchildren, Edgar Barnes, Philip Houghtby III, Max Houghtby, Heather Ramirez (Jessy), Chandra Males (Ryan), Joshua Moore (Vista) and Adams Baker (Kelsey); and his close friends, Jessica, Tony, Lane Nickles, Josh and Miranda Button. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
