He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Swarthout and Ellen Earle; his granddaughter Shae Cross; and his siblings, Gary, Dave, Ben and RaeAnn.

He is survived by: his children, Steven Cross, Stephanie Cross (Shawn Parrish), Spencer Cross (Mandy) and Scott Cross (Rachel); his siblings, Marc, Kim, Carla, Tania, Biane, Kaleen and Spring; and his partner's children, Bryan, Harold Jr., Russell, Eric and Jeff. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
