He is survived by: his wife Maria Anna Scheuven; and his children, Yvonne Verschueren (late Edward Brouhard) of Rochester Hills, Margo Tyghem (Tom) of Boca Raton, Florida and John Verschueren of Rochester Hills, Michigan. He is also survived by six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Following President John Kennedy's words "...ask what you can do for your country.", Gerard donated time to the zoning boards of Hazel Park and Rochester Hills, many years as their head.
