He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schmaltz and Viola Schmaltz; his wife Diane Lovelace; his brother-in-law John Werner; and his granddaughter Stephanie Schmaltz.
He is survived by: his sons, Jon Schmaltz (Sara) of Marysville, MI and Donald Schmaltz (Laura Davis) of Chicago, IL; his stepsons, Frederick and Cameron Lovelace (Marlis) of Southington, CT.; his grandchildren, Jack, William, Vivienne Lovelace, Rachel (Dylan Greenberg), Rebekah (Brett Shean), Abigail, Alexandria, Samantha, Jason and Julianna Schmaltz; his sister Joanne Werner; and his nephews, John, Steve (Allison), Paul (Sue) and Mark (Cindy).
Visitation was held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The military honors will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Ross Bible Church (2865 Maywood Dr, Port Huron, MI 48060).
