With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Pelagia Nawrocki of Sterling Heights, Michigan, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 20, 2026 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alexander Jozwiak and Eleanor Jozwiak (Switalske); her husband Theodore Nawrocki of Casmir's Catholic Church; her siblings, Joseph Jozwiak (Sally), Pauline Ostrowski (George), Edward Jozwiak (Jeanette), Stacie Dzwonkowski (Walter), Nettie Bekaert (George), Alice Gapczynski (Leo), Phyllis Pilarski (Harry), Connie Pilarski (Leo), Josephine and Albin Jozwiak (Blanche); and her in-laws, Elizabeth, Howard Winterlee, Priscilla, Vince Burdo, Leone, Cass Kraska, Elaine, Gerald Kavanagh, Ben, Gene, Raymond and Krystyna Nawrocki.
She is survived by: her children, Sandy Gizzi (Michael), Cindy Chrzanowski (Greg), Sue Meisner (Tom), Jim Nawrocki (Jane) and Janice Bieniewicz (Mike); her grandchildren, Matthew Alberts, Stephanie Wood (Brian), Craig Meisner (Lauren), Kyle Meisner (Jeanne), Payne Gniewek (Susan), Amy Hartz (Matt), Mike Chrzanowski, Eric Bieniewicz (Andra) and Jaclyn Novak (Thomas); her great grandchildren, Ella, Teddy, Lila, Luke Wood, Scarlett, Jade, Everett (Rhett), Preston, Palmer, Pierce Meisner, Charles, Greyson Gniewek and Michael Novak; her sister Anna Wozniak (late Robert); and her siblings-in-law, Gerald Nawrocki and Marilyn Nawrocki. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors, Inc. - Sterling Heights (3801 18 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314). A rosary will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. The lying in state will be held on Saturday, May 30th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Paul Tarsus Catholic Church (41300 Romeo Plank Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48038). A burial will be held on Saturday, May 30th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
