She was predeceased by: her parents, Lilly Silcox (Counts) and Silas Silcox; her husbands, William Garland, Luster Henry Gilliam and James Rufus Gilliam; her children, Ritzy Ashby and Zella Smith; her grandchildren, Johnny Lee Dean and Tracie Smith Mullins; her great grandchild Brent Mullins; and her great great grandchild Jonathan Penning.
She is survived by: her daughter JoEtta Young (Richard); and her grandchildren, David Young, Leslie Lane (Jeff), Bridgett Young, Jacqueline Herman, Kellie Parks, Mike Tackett (Angie) and Ritz Ashby (Shelly). She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stockbridge Senior Citizen Center or Ypsilanti Missionary Baptist Church.
