He was predeceased by: his parents, William Peterson and Ethel Peterson (Johnson); his mother-in-law Janet Lee Kelly; his wife Janet; his daughter Sherry Peterson; and his sister Ruth Mead.

He is survived by: his children, Tim William Peterson (Patricia) of Barry, IL and Christin Michelle Peterson of Swartz Creek; his grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb (Catherine) and Jesse Peterson; his brothers, Irvin Peterson (Rosemary) and Richard Peterson (Donna); and his brother-in-law William Kelly (Susan). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
