She was predeceased by : her parents, Marinus J. Meeuwenberg and Jeanette Meeuwenberg (Folkema); her husband James W. Hower; her son Brian Hekkema; and her sisters, Carol Taylor and Delores White.

She is survived by : her children, Sheryl Korstanje (Michael), Robert Hekkema (Brenda) and Jeff Hekkema (Sue); and her siblings, Sharon Blohm (Lewis), Harlan "Bud" Meeuwenberg (Betty), Bonnie Sietsema (John), Louis Meeuwenberg (Paula), James Meeuwenberg (Terri), Dawn Rushing (Thomas) and Colleen Pero (Daniel). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, & 14 great-great grandchildren.
