Duane Allen Frost, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at his home in Twining, Michigan. Born on January 4, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, Duane's life was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and the community that he held dear.
He married the love of his life, Candy VanAlstine, on March 10, 1979, in their shared hometown of Flint. Their union was blessed with a loving daughter Janel, who married James Carten, and through them, Duane was graced with a cherished grandson, Justin (Elizabeth Friend) Wade. Duane's devotion to his family was unparalleled, and the 47 years of marriage to Candy were filled with laughter, support, and an enduring bond that served as the foundation of their family.
The Frost family circle was rich with love, including Duane's adoring mother, Harriet Wilson, his caring siblings Sandy McGhee, Cindy (Gary) Lintz, Jamie (Rob) Vanluven, Jeanette (Brent) Dix, and Jason Wilson, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will cherish his memory. His father Harland and stepfather Curly Wilson preceded him in death, and they are now reunited in eternal rest.
After graduating from Carman Ainsworth High School, Duane dedicated many years as a Press Operator for a manufacturing company, where his work ethic and intelligence shone through. His spirit of community was further exemplified by his involvement with the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church, where he lived out his faith and connected with his community.
The passion of Duane's life was the family farm. He found great joy in farming, an activity that tied him to the land and the seasons. He was an avid hunter, enjoying the serenity and the challenge of the outdoors. Duane's pride in his ability to build his own home was a testament to his handy nature, and it stood as a physical representation of the safe haven he provided for his family.
Those who knew Duane will remember him for his loving heart and his readiness to offer a helping hand. Whether a neighbor was in need or a family member sought assistance, he was there with a willing spirit and a capable set of hands. His time with family was his most treasured, and the moments shared will live on in the memories of those who loved him.
