He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Willard Basher and Genevieve Basher (Davis); his wife Joan Merkley; his sons, Lon Hayes, Robert Hayes and Bradley Hayes (Tally); his grandchildren, Surric Hayes, Melanie Ho (Peter), Jillian Hayes (Brian Wocjik) and Sydney Hayes (Sergie); and his brothers, Richard Brasher (Ann) and George Brasher. He was also cherished by four great-grandchildren.
