He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Gemlo and Florence Gemlo (Gagnon); and his brothers, Robert, Roy and John.

He is survived by : his wife Sandra Swenson of Aitkin; his children, Charissa (Zac) of St. Francis, Kimberly (Bob) of Andover and Damon (Tina) of Blaine; his grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Austin, Mason, Elena, Spencer and Brodie; and his great grandchildren, Rowan, Raena and Elijah.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
