He is survived by: his wife Lynn Mahaffey; his children, Kris Birkholz (Daryl), Mark Nelson (Shelly) and Bart Nelson (Amy); his grandchildren, Justin Birkholz (Nicole), Taylor Nelson and Shaina Nelson; his great grandchildren, Jack and Callie Birkholz; and his siblings, Joann Leagjeld (Louie), Maureen Anderson (Dave), Paul Nelson and Jim Nelson (Cathy). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
