He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Emmett and Katherine Devine (Connolly); and his wife Joanne. He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Unmacht (David) of Eagan and Ann Strey (Tom) of Apple Valley; his grandchildren, Sarah, Matt, John Unmacht, Patrick and Paul Strey; his sisters, Sally Young (Jim) of Long Beach, CA and Mary Ellen Devine of Richfield; and his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Hiniker (Richard) and Jean Marie Martinson (Gerald) of Golden Valley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
