He was predeceased by : his parents, Leo John "Bud" and Mildred Betz (Shipman); and his siblings, Floyd, Raymond, William and Dorothy (Arline).

He is survived by : his wife Arline Haynes; his sons, George and Dan of Bovey, MN; his grandchildren, Nate Betz (Olive), Alli Betz, Ryan Betz and Kristine Schaan (Mike); and his sister Vivian Baudette of Kelso, WA. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.
