He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Smude and Agnes Smude; his wife Alice "Tretter" Smude; his children, Duane and Pamela Smude; and his siblings, Celia Pulak, Helen Veith Margaret Weiss, Angie Bieganek, Herman, August and Peter Smude.
He is survived by: his children, Shirley Hanson (Oliver), Gary Smude (Deb), Mike Smude (Diane), Randy Smude (Deb), Alex Jr. Smude (Anne), Terry Smude (Twila), Patricia Watson (Danny) and Bill Smude (Christi); his siblings, Larry Smude (Barb) and Caroline Veith; and his sisters-in-law, Florence and Deb Smude. He is also survived by great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
