He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Thompson and Ruth Thompson (Dykeman); his wife Emily Hillman; his children, John (Heather), Jeff (Wanda) and Beth Thompson; his grandsons, Jeremy and Aaron Thompson; and his sisters, Beryl and Joyce.
