She is survived by: her husband Terry Maakestad; her children, Maggie Sunken (Troy), Dominic Maakestad (Erica) and Derek Maakestad (Shawna); her grandchildren, Clayton Maakestad (Hannah), Abigail Sunken, Benjamin Sunken, Madison Maakestad (Wyatt), Trevor Maakestad, Caden Wickert, Aspen Wickert, Stella Maakestad Samuel Maakestad and Vivien Maakestad; her mother-in-law Jean Maakestad; her siblings, Jane Thate (John) and Jim Cox; and her in-laws, Kelly Sheehan (Mike), Kris Wenzel, Jon Maakestad (Jill) and Norman Abel. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Jean's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Martin County Humane Society.
