He was predeceased by: his former wife Twila J. Jones; his wife Violet C. Schultz; his mother Twila (Violet); and his stepsons, William and Randy Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis Dettmer (Carol) of Long Lake, Vana Schmidt (Martyn) of Baxter, Robert Dettmer (Colleen) of Forest Lake, Lee Dettmer (Shirley) of Princeton and Scott Dettmer (Jane) of Faribault; and his stepchildren, Rose Marie Buendorf (Dennis) of Faribault, Jim Thompson (Annette) of Owatonna and Larry Thompson (Tammy) of Faribault. He is also survived by many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
