He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake Sauer and Teresa Sauer (Kartes); and his siblings, Bernard, Wallace, Jerome Sauer and Florene Rowley.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his stepchildren, Roberta Honkanen of Minneapolis, MN, Melissa Honkanen (Theo Nicolaides) of New York City, NY, Michael (Riana) of Medan, Indonesia and Matthew (Ashley Schandorff) of Owatonna, MN; his sister Marlene Miller (Tom) of Langdon, ND; and his grandchildren, Adrienne, Olivia, Chloe, Samantha, Oscar and Emma.
