He was predeceased by: his siblings, Violet Dahl (Harley), Ralph Melin (Johanna) and Eleanor Hayes (George); and his grandson Jason Lassila. He is survived by: his wife Betty Mae Carlson; his sister Elizabeth Moore of St. Paul; his daughter Linda Rapp (Jeff) of Duluth; his grandchildren, Adam Rapp (Alyssa), Brittany Rapp (Jake) and Chris Rapp; his great grandchildren, Callen, Rielyn, Kinley Rapp and Everett Ellingworth; his daughter Donna Lassila (Alan) of Floodwood; his grandchildren, Josh Lassila (Michelle), Bobbi Jo Garthus (Mickey) and Jake Lassila (Tiffany); his great grandchildren, Annabelle, William Garthus, Layla and Maverick Lassila; his stepdaughter Renee Nelson (Jim) of Deer River; his grandchildren, Mike Hahn (Laura) and Heather Schjenken (Lance); and his great grandchildren, Evan, Sophie, Natalie, Colin, Caleb Hahn, Garrett and Hope Schjenken. He is also survived by two daughters, one step-daughter, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
