He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald McCarty and Joyce McCarty; his brother Scott McCarty; his aunt Suzanne McCarty; and his parents-in-law, Bob and Jere Urista.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy McCarty; his sons, Sean McCarty (Wynn) and Michael McCarty (Betsy); his sister Robin Mady; his sisters-in-law, Deb McCarty and Robin Mollick; and his uncle Pat McCarty. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Grand Rapids Area Library Foundation or to Donor's Choice.
