He is survived by: his wife Winkie; his children, Douglas Berends, Pamela Berends-Bergeron and Patience Berends-Porter; and his sisters, Ella Mae Felt and Marlene Erdman. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
