He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Nicolai and Edna Nicolai (Schuldt); and his brother Delgene. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Kiecker; and his children, Julie, Steven (LaVonne), Mark, Elizabeth, James (Sherry), Tom (Katie) and Laura (James). He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
