He was predeceased by: his wife Jeanette; and his parents, Alfred "Red" and Carmen. He is survived by: his sons, Jim (Joan), Greg (Pam), Joe (Margaret) and Al Jr. (Becky); and his grandchildren, John, Jenna (Eddy), Joey, Aaron, Tim, Josh, Stacy (Aaron) and Michael. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
