He is survived by: his significant other Diana Stoner; his significant other's son Todd; his sisters, Jean Davidson of St. Louis and Lois Seufert of Van Nuys; his children, Jeff Nelson (Dori) of Sioux Falls, SD, Todd Henze-Nelson (Brenda), Jill Peltier (Kelly) of Canton, SD and Julie Nelson; his grandchildren, Paden Henze-Nelson (Emma), Jaret Henze-Nelson, Ian Nelson (Jordana), Jesse Nelson, Max Peltier and Katherine Peltier; and his great grandchildren, Raelynn Mae Nelson and Ren Ellis Nelson.
