He was predeceased by : his parents, Geraldine Wachtel and Edward Wachtel of Mankato, MN.; his stepfather Charles Evers; and his grandsons, Jacob and Dakota.

He is survived by : his wife Marlyce Wachtel; his children, Jenny Scholl (Eric), Amanda Miller (Eric), Joy Wels, Dayna Beeck, Gwen Shouts and Dan Jensen (Dawn); and his siblings, Darryl, Mike (Wendy), Jim, Jon (Cindee), Eddie (Tammy), Pete (Michelle), Marty, Diane, Herb and Tina. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson.
