He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Cauwels and Mary Cauwels (Doom); his wife Patricia Benson; his brother Bernard; his great grandchild Ernest Cauwels; and his brother-in-law Omer Eischens.
He is survived by : his children, Debbie Carson (Kenny) of Winnebego, MN, Connie Kerkaert (David) of Watkins, MN, Brad Cauwels of Marshall, Jeffrey Cauwels of Marshall, Sharon Dillon (Dave) of Seaforth, Barbara Baack (Dan Olson) of Green Isle, MN and Janet Flood (William) of Porter; his grandchildren, Johnathan Paonessa, Dominick Paonessa (Jessica), Jayson Kerkaert, JoAnn Fish, Jill Umana, Justin Kerkaert, Jesse Cauwels (Angie), Jeremy Cauwels (Callie), Joshua Cauwels, Christopher Cauwels, Matthew Dillon (Erin), Angela Roeder (Adam), Zach Baack, Alex Baack, Aleia Larsen (Thomas) and William Flood (Tayla); his great grandchildren, Dominick, Juliet Paonessa, Billy, Charlie Fish, Jaylah, Maddie Umana, Aubrey Muehlbauer, Emmy Cauwels, Joseph Cauwels, Lucille, Ophelia Cauwels, Joesph Dillon and Violet Roeder; and his siblings, Evelyn Hansen, Agnes Weiring (Clarence), Marie Bottleberghe (Don), Dorothy Eischens (Al), Joe Cauwels (Doris), Theresa Schuester (Morgan), Lucille Laslo (Jack) and Loretta Anderson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
