He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alrik Eksten and Nellie Eksten (Edeburn); his wife Donna Jean Anderson; his children, Madhu Bhat (Pam) and Larry Eksten (Ellen); and his grandchildren, Suzanne Lewis, Teresa Davis (Luke), Katie Eksten-Gomez (Jose) and Matthew Eksten (Michelle). He was also cherished by many great-grandchildren.
