She was predeceased by: her parents, Stanley Swanson and Mildred Swanson (Keiser); her husband Elliot Nelson; and her brothers, Wendell, Marlon "Bud", Myron and Oren Swanson.

She is survived by: her sons, Gregory Nelson of Denver, NC, Robert Nelson of Granite Bay, CA and Timothy Nelson of Carolina Beach, NC; and her siblings, Kermit, Paul, Gary, Audrey and Carolyn. She is also survived by five granddaughters.
