He was predeceased by: his son Mark R. Nelson. He is survived by: his parents, Dale G. Nelson and Myrtle C. Nelson of Mound; his wife Martha Hallar Nelson; his son Barry Roger Nelson (Kristi); his granddaughters, Helen Elizabeth Nelson and Reagan Renee Nelson of Florissant, MO; his brothers, Deane D. Nelson (Lois) of Alexandria, MN and Bruce D. Nelson (Judy) of Spring Hill, KS; his brother-in-law James William Hallar (Susie); his pet Ruger; and his significant other Fred Shaffstall of Des Peres, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the Mark Nelson YMCA Summer Camp Fund.
