He is survived by : his mother Garnet Gjerde (Leslie) of Willmar; his wife Denise Peterson; his son Michael Gjerde (Tammy) of Spicer; his stepson Brian Hedtke of Sleepy Eye; his grandchildren, Jesse Hedtke (Rachel), Brent Hedtke (Tiffany), Chauntel Renne (Mark), Carla Middagh (Rich) and Aaron Hedtke; his former life partner Denise Gjerde of New London; his siblings, Kenneth Gjerde (Ruth) of New London, Thomas Gjerde of Pennock, Rodney "Piker" Gjerde (Nancy) of New London, Sandra Rutjes of New London, CarolMae Kastel (Mike) of New London and Rhonda Fangmeier (Jim) of Paynesville; and his brother-in-law Dean Hagen of Alberta. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
