He was predeceased by: his parents, Rose Novak (Rudnick) and Vincent Novak; his wife Arlene Klapel; and his siblings, Clemence, Clyde, George, Paul Novak, Francis Christensen Janssen, Jennie Klima, Grace Hegstrom and Josephine Novak.
He is survived by: his sons, James Gerald (Sandy) of Centennial, CO and Darold Novak of Westminster, CO; his granddaughter Leah Montera (Kellen) of Lone Tree, CO; his son Ryan Novak (Lauren) of Aurora, CO; his great grandchildren, Grayson, Cole Montera, Sawyer and Christian Novak; and his sister Florence Olson (Odell). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
