He was predeceased by : his father Richard Sandberg; his parents-in-law, Delores and Donald Asfeld; and his siblings-in-law, Alan Asfeld and Julie Erickson.

He is survived by : his mother Nancy Sandberg (Anderson) of Bertha; his former life partner Pamela Mary Etzler (Asfeld); his wife Pam of Pillager; his stepson Michael Etzler (Ashley) of Pillager; his grandchildren, Blake, Lucas and Makenna; his siblings, Darren Sandberg (Darcy) of Longview, WA, Cory Sandberg of Fernly, NV and Kelly Sandberg of Hewitt; and his siblings-in-law, Duane Asfeld (Jonell), Paul Asfeld (Janet), Brian Asfeld, Scott Erickson and Karen Asfeld.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be used toward medical expenses.
