He was predeceased by : his brother Eric; and his mother-in-law Mary Knutson. He is survived by : his parents, James Mertesdorf and Gloria Mertesdorf (Woodcock) of Pine Island; his wife Melissa "Missy" Knutson of Rochester; his sons, Breckin and Cullen Grinnell of Rochester; his siblings-in-law, Nicky Knutson of Rochester and Matt Knutson (Mamisoa) of Rochester; his father-in-law Kelly Knutson of Owatonna; his grandparents, Virginia Woodcock of Lake Preston, SD and Dean Mertesdorf of Mankato; his nephew Isaac; and his nieces, Gracelyn and Maeva Knutson.
