With solemn reverence, we commemorate Joan A. Held-Benson of Nisswa, Minnesota, whose life came to an end on May 16, 2024 at the age of 85, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Ade Andert and Irene Andert (Welsch); her former life partner Tom Held; her brother Richard Andert; and her son-in-law Ray Harrison.
She is survived by : her husband Ray Benson; her children, Mark Held (Allison Waggoner), Karen Held-Harrison, Gregory Held (Nancy), Kenneth Held, Daniel Held (Monica Pick) and Timothy Held (Leah); her stepchildren, Kris Scharenbroich (John), Mark Benson (Angie), Ted Benson (Tammy), Amy Benson Yano (Steve) and Ann Hess (Jeff); and her brother Michael Andert (Sandy). She is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 29th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the St. John's Abbey Church. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, May 29th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Medical School Department of Neuroscience Fund at the University of Minnesota Foundation.
